What to Read

Blue

Hello, Readers!  Lately I have been re-vamping aspects of my website in an attempt to make the resources more accessible and user-friendly.

One fear I have with the recommended reading lists I publish every Monday and my bi-weekly reviews is that once they are published, they are buried deep within the site, only to be resurrected if and when a reader specifically searches for a title.  Plus, sometimes we don’t know exactly what we’re looking for — let alonewhat we’re  in the mood to read!

So, I have redone my What to Read page in the form of what is called a “sneeze page” (ewww! Rather inappropriate during this time of swine flu, or H1N1 virus, or whatever we’re calling it, that’s what they call it!).

Instead of simply linking to former posts, my What to Read page now ”sneezes” out to a summary reading list, which then link to the various reviews (and other reading lists) I have written over the past 18 months.

So, if you have a minute, I have a handful of questions I would really appreciate feedback on:

  • How can I make this page even more useful to YOU?
  • Should I only include books I recommend?
  • Should I start rating my reviews?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may have!  Simply leave me a comment below if you think of any ways I can make this website even more helpful to book clubs and readers everywhere!

Welcome back!

  1. kristen – i welcome all of your book reviews: recommended or not. your comments help form my interest in what books i choose to read. additionally, i would appreciate it if you applied a rating scale along with your review; this would help me clarify how you felt about the book (i.e., if you liked it √ or really loved it √++). cathy

  2. Thank you, Cathy! I’ve been wondering if a rating scale might help… I’m about a week ahead with my reviews, but I’ll start adding a rating asap. I appreciate the feedback!

  3. Yes, just stick to your own reviews. Could you rate your review like the movies? Could you categorize them in genres?

  4. Thank you, Eve! I think I should give a rating system a try… I’m a bit ahead w/ my reviews right now, but in a few weeks I’ll try a few ideas and see what everyone thinks!
