Ov-er-ra-ted Classics Meme!

This weekend I finished reading The Brothers Karamazov (whew…) and launched my new website.  So, in honor of these two accomplishments, I’ve decided to start my first meme!

My new site — LitGuides.com – is a site dedicated to teachers and students who need a little help navigating classic literature.  So, I thought I would do a little research with the wonderful world of readers I’ve been lucky enough to meet.  LitGuides will eventually encompass grammar, writing, and other helpful tips for teachers and students, but it’s still a baby and needs time to grow…

Here’s the meme — please tag 5 other bloggers and ask the following questions:

  • What is the best classic you were “forced” to read in school (and why)?
  • What was the worst classic you were forced to endure (and why)?
  • Which classic should every student be required to read (and why)?
  • Which classic should be put to rest immediately (and why)?
  • **Bonus** Why do you think certain books become “classics”?

I would love to hear what many, many readers think, so please feel free to link to this post (either in the comments or with Mr. Linky).

I have decided to tag Mrs. S, Lisamm, Skrishna, Julie P, Heather, and Gautami (oops, I picked 6…! :) )

Thanks for reading!  I’m looking forward to the discussion!!

Welcome back!

  5. I was forced to “read” Wuthering Heights in high school and basically copied my friend Brian’s homework each morning.

I was forced to “read” it again three years later in college and loved it.

I’ve read it three times since then and it’s still a favorite.

  9. Thanks for the tag! I’ll post on my blog tomorrow :)

PS I don’t mind your google ads – I’m testing out the same – your content is tailored enough that they are relevant to your blog.
