Recently I received Gift Lit’s latest newsletter, which included a (short) summer beach reads list for men:
- The Troubled Man
by Henning Mankell
- The Snowman
by Jo Nesbo
- The Tragedy of Arthur: A Novel
by Arthur Phillips
What other titles could we add to this mini list?

Road Dogs by Elmore Leonard is a fast read that picks up the exploits of Jack Foley where the movie, Out of Sight, with George Clooney, leaves off. For an author from Detroit, Leonard’s characters are about as far away from the Motorcity as you can get. Dogs isn’t heavy lifting but has an interesting plot, unique characters, Leonard’s typically colorful dialog, lot’s of twists and turns and a chance to root for a good “bad guy” – in other words – not a bad Summer read.
