Release date: 2009 / 210 pages

Synopsis (from the back cover): …Lauren Flynn is riding life’s merry-go-round — literally. She won the dilapidated amusement park ride in the divorce settlement. Since then, her life’s been a three-ring circus.

First Sentence: It’s a great day for a divorce.

Review:  This lovely romance was such a happy surprise! When the author contacted me to read and review her novel, true-to-form I did not read the plot synopsis before accepting.  Also, I have not sought out a romance for a long time and had forgotten how quickly the hours can fly, knowing that all’s well that end’s well.

In this novel, a headstrong attorney, frustrated with her dreamy, altruistic husband who inadvertently spent her retirement, learns that opposites do indeed attract and that life is much more fulfilling when yin and yang meet.  Or, in the words of her feisty assistant:

“Nature is made up of nothing but opposites, Lauren. Summer and winter, day and night, wet and dry, hot and cold. If the sun shined all the time, we’d never have a chance to appreciate the moonlight… Opposites allow differences to shine… A woman’s best characteristics never have a chance to stand out if she’s with a person who has those same characteristics…”

A merry-go-round that Lauren gets in her short-lived divorce brings Lauren back to her husband, and reminds her of why she loved him in the first place, as well.  I recommend this sweet romance to anyone who needs a nice distraction for a few hours, rest-assured that happy endings do exist!
