BTT: The Best Worst Book…

“What’s the best ‘worst’ book you’ve ever read — the one you like despite some negative reviews or features?”

Boy, I’m not sure how to answer this week’s literary question…  I have a feeling that this question could offend many a reader, depending on how “worst” is defined!

I tend to read a wide variety of fiction — of varying literary levels.  I find that if I have read too many literary works in a row, I crave a bit of fluff.

On the other hand, after two bits of fluff in a row, I crave something more substantial.  I also seem drawn to nonfiction more and more as I get older, for some reason.

But I digress…  I guess my choice of “Best Worst Book” would be just about any trilogy by Nora Roberts.  Why “trilogy”?  Because Roberts’ strength lies in her character development, and I love being able to spend three whole novels with characters who really come to life.

So, literary?  Nope…  Memorable?  Maybe…  Deliciously decadent?  Absolutely!

How about you?  Am I unjust in calling Nora Roberts “bad”?  How do you define a “bad book”?  And what would your choice be?
