Well, I finally checked my Reader to see what’s hot in the blog world and wondered… why was the BTT topic released early this week? Hmmm… Well, better late than never! Here’s this week’s topic:
1. Do you get to read as much as you WANT to read?
(I’m guessing #1 is an easy question for everyone?)
2. If you had (magically) more time to read–what would you read? Something educational? Classic? Comfort Reading? Escapism? Magazines?
With regard to #1, I’m pretty sure I could read 16 hours a day (seriously — I’m very good at sitting for long stretches of time), so the answer is no. However, I really do get to read quite a bit — probably about 1-2 hours a day and then 3-5 hours on the weekend — so I’m not complaining.
Now, #2 is about to actually happen! We are spending 2 weeks in Florida soon — 1 week with my in-laws (who have a magical backyard, perfect for reading) and then 1 week with my family (beautiful beach and lots of fellow readers) — and so I will have some nice stretches of reading time. And what will I be reading? Mostly ARCs for reviews and giveaways — plus a few “hot picks” from 2008 for discussion questions.
So, there is my belated answer…
By the way, one reason I lost track of time a bit — Tutor.com! I’ve started tutoring online and I just love it. Students log in (free at libraries or pay per minute at home) and ask folks like me (licensed teachers) all sorts of questions about grammar, writing, and literature. Today I helped a college student organize a persuasive essay on why math and science are more useful than literature (sigh…). Some days (like today) I have many students and the days just fly by… Good times! 
(Although not as much time for reading…)
I usually get enough reading time each day and only limited by what my brain can handle and the patience of my family. Have fun in Florida and enjoy reading.
