Well, Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow country-folk!
I am in Michigan visiting family, attending what I believe was almost a historic football game — of sorts — the (nearly) undefeated Tennessee Titans against the (thoroughly) defeated Detroit Lions (who have literally not won a single game this season). But, I’m sure I’m having fun as always!
So, on to this week’s BTT! Since I am off-line this weekend, I thought I would go out on my own and choose an appropriate topic I recently came across (and I’m sorry I can’t remember which blog I read this on! Please let me know, if you know…).
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday — a whole day off simply dedicated to gratitude! You just can’t beat that… Not to mention the FOOD!
So, my topic this week is…
What works are you sincerely grateful for? Which books have enriched your life to such a degree, you are deeply thankful they were written? I would love to ask, “What book are you MOST grateful for?” but who could choose just one…
So, here are a few of the books I am deeply grateful for…
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen — The syntax and tone! A smart, independent protagonist! A partnership in which each challenges the other!
- My friend Sasha — Childhood favorite… So sad, but so beautiful…
- Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen — Such a love story to setting…
- Beloved by Toni Morrison — the most gut-wrenching, searing book I’ve ever read…
- Walden by Thoreau — for the love of reflection…
So, what about you?
