Here is this week’s question…
I’ve always wondered what other people do when they come across a word/phrase that they’ve never heard before. I mean, do they jot it down on paper so they can look it up later, or do they stop reading to look it up on the dictionary/google it or do they just continue reading and forget about the word?
I just had this experience with Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay! Since most of the books I read are library books, they come with a slip of paper with the check-out date and my initial (I order on-line), so when I come upon an unfamiliar word I usually write the word down on this little slip of paper and then look it up later. In the meantime, I try to figure out the meaning in context.
What about you?

Sounds good. I should hang onto my check-out slips! Thanks for participating.
That’s a good little idea!
One of the things that has intrigued me about people’s answers to this question is how many say they look unknown words up on the internet. I think it probably dates me that I would never have thought of doing that. I always use a dictionary.
I’m a skipper, not a looker-upper.
Yes! It was like a light bulb went off as I was working on my blog one day — I could actually google a word, rather than look it up! This was a very recent revelation…
