Instant Classics — coming right up!

Well, after spending the past six months creating classic kits for book clubs, I think I need to mix things up a bit.  I noticed that the first custom kit — on A Thousand Splendid Suns– already has two customers (thank you!), but the established classics seem to be gathering dust…  And, honestly, creating kits for the classics is time-consuming compared to modern literature.

So, I am postponing the Worldly Wonders series until this summer and diving into “Instant Classics, pt 1″ for the next six months.  My plan is to create a series of kits for past Pulitzer Prize winners (Middlesex, Beloved, The Shipping News, The Hours, Gilead, March, The Road…) and then a series of kits for past Booker Award winners (Life of Pi, The Blind Assassin, Amsterdam, God of Small Things, The Gathering…).  I could envision “Instant Classics, pt 3″ for National Book Award winners, too.  A couple of other ideas — kits for the Guardian U.K.’s First Novel Award winners and possibly even a series for the YALSA Alex Award winners, too (books that are written for adults, but appeal to kids).

Now, if anyone was hoping to see a kit on War and Peace or Madame Bovary released in January — remember that you can order any title at any time through the Custom Kits!

Oh yeah… The Shipping News. I must admit I haven’t read the book yet, but the movie is in the list of my all time 5 favourites. Have a great time with it!
